About the client
Corteva Agriscience, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Indianapolis, is a global leader in seeds and crop protection. With research centers around the world, it drives innovation across genetics, chemistry, and precision agriculture to help farmers grow more resilient and productive crops.

The opportunity

Creating a digital platform for end-to-end farm visibility

To better support its customers and advance sustainable farming, Corteva set out to expand into remote farm management sector. The goal was to create a digital product that would give farmers a 360-degree view of their operations, covering land quality, ownership, historical crop data, and more.

The solution needed to support the full farm lifecycle across seasonal cycles while being ready ahead of the next planting season. At the same time, it had to evolve quickly through continuous stakeholder feedback to ensure strong usability and on-the-ground value.

Iterating toward impact: Tieto Tech Consultig works in close collaboration Corteva on the new product

Our team partnered with Corteva to deliver the solution in two iterations, ensuring it addressed immediate needs while remaining adaptable to user feedback and evolving business goals.

The initial release introduced core functionality and data management capabilities for two key user groups: farmers and Corteva agronomists. In the second iteration, the focus shifted to refining the user experience, incorporating direct feedback to improve usability and day-to-day effectiveness. Despite tight timelines and the constraints of seasonal farming cycles, the solution was delivered on schedule and fully aligned with Corteva’s expectations.

Project details

Building a global, user-driven farm management application

From the outset, the solution was designed to scale beyond a single market. Our software engineers ensured it could be deployed across multiple geographies to support Corteva’s regional operations and global expansion.

At the same time, we established structured feedback loops with stakeholders and decision-makers across regional branches. Insights gathered after each demo were incorporated during the development process, enabling continuous product refinement.

After 1.5 years of end-to-end development, Corteva launched the first version of the app — an all-in-one data platform that enables farmers to manage operations across devices. Users can create and manage their farms remotely, access up-to-date field data, monitor crop health using sensing data and AI, and plan activities with hyperlocal weather insights. The application effectively covers the full farming lifecycle year-round.

Feedback from early users highlighted opportunities to improve usability, speed, and mobile performance. In response, the second version focused on three key areas: a full technology upgrade to a microservices architecture with React and React Native, a redesigned user experience based on direct input from farmers and agronomists, and expanded scalability to support additional markets.

Development of version 2 began in April 2024 and was completed in December 2024. Thanks to continuous iteration between versions, new features and technologies were introduced without disrupting existing workflows. By March 2025, all users across regions had transitioned to the upgraded platform.
