World leading steel company SSAB continues with Tieto
28 October 2015
To continue the long-term cooperation, SSAB and Tieto have renewed their services agreement for the next 3 years, with a two-year option. The contract covers a wide range of services from capacity services to application development for business-critical manufacturing, logistics and sales operations worldwide.
Tieto offered SSAB an attractive model for productivity improvement and for modernizing the IT operations in the mainframe environment. In addition, Tieto was capable of combining local market understanding together with global delivery capacity in order to improve the service usability and development of new applications and, above all, secure the continuity of production.
SSAB and Rautaruukki merged in July 2014, creating a leading producer of advanced high-strength steels and quenched and tempered steels. SSAB employs approximately 17,000 people in 50 countries.
”We are happy for the continued trust from SSAB. We have worked together for a long time and our service portfolio seems to meet their needs. We have now modernized and developed SSAB’s infrastructure and architecture according to their changing needs. Our global service team is world class in understanding the customer’s business and SSAB appreciates it. We are also further developing the Application Management services both in Finland and India,” says Ari Järvelä, head of Manufacturing, Retail and Logistics Industry Group at Tieto.
