Lillestrøm municipality uses artificial intelligence to ensure transparency

Tieto is helping multiple Norwegian municipalities harness the power of artificial intelligence to protect the privacy of citizens.

Lillestrøm municipality has been part of a pilot project testing AI functionality in our case and document management solution Public 360°, to see if this can help them better handle the increasing amount of documents they need to inspect every day.

Challenge

Handling a growing volume of sensitive documents

Lillestrøm municipality published a number of highly personal sensitive information after an error. To prevent a new leak, they have now a very special new "employee". The municipality contacted Tieto for support.

Solution

Archive Inspector to help

Lillestrøm municipality now now a very special new "employee" to prevent the leaks. Together with Tieto and some other municipalities, they developed a system called Archive Inspector. This system uses artificial intelligence (AI) to check documents. Sebastian Reichmann, Head of AI and Insight at Tieto, says that it is almost impossible to avoid mistakes with today's manual quality assurance.

The municipality has been using the Archive Inspector since the start of 2023, and the experience so far has been good. Tieto has already piloted the Archive Inspector in health information. According to Reichmann, in the long run, they want all municipalities and other public bodies with services of Tieto should be able to use AI in this way.
