Societal engagements

Unlocking lasting impact with our societal engagements

We believe that we can create lasting value by engaging with partners that develop societies and at the same time support our business strategy.

Improving digital equality in society

We believe the future lies in the youth of today and that technology is shaping this future. This is why we invest in young people, and help children and youth in less fortunate circumstances in some of our operating countries to advance in their lives and avoid exclusion.

We continue to focus on improving digital equality in society by strengthening digital competencies and skills among disadvantaged groups. Read more on our key societal engagements below.

Sekasin Collective

Promoting the mental wellbeing of youth in Finland

The Sekasin Collective, an organization in Finland dedicated to promoting the mental wellbeing of young people. The collaboration focuses on Sekasin Chat, a nationwide digital support service for young people. Through this partnership, Tieto aims to help ensure that no young person in Finland has to face emotional distress alone.

Kodcentrum

Equal opportunities to learn programming

The vision of the Swedish organisation Kodcentrum is that all children should have equal opportunities to learn programming and digital creation. Through the partnership, Tieto and Kodcentrum aim to open the door to digital creation for more children and young people.

UNICEF Norway

Focus on children and responsible use of AI

UNICEF, the United Nations agency for children, works to protect the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged and hardest to reach. Across more than 190 countries and territories, UNICEF does whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfil their potential. In Norway, we partner with UNICEF to promote the responsible use of technology among children and youth, with a special focus on children and AI.

Empowering children through education

Through our long-standing partnership with the Lila Poonawalla Foundation in India, we help academically talented but financially challenged girls pursue higher education, complemented by mentoring and volunteering opportunities from our employees.

To strengthen digital literacy and life skills among disadvantaged children, we work with the Identity Foundation, and our collaboration with Yuva Parivartan focuses on vocational training and capacity-building programmes.

In addition, we contribute to broader social welfare and empowerment efforts through organisations such as Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, and by partnering with the Swedish Chamber of India (SCCI) and Finnish Chamber in India (FinCham) to support NGOs working on poverty alleviation and female empowerment. We also work with selected partners and NGOs in Ukraine.
