Singapore has been identified as having the potential to become an Asian LNG trading hub. This consensus, fueled by the rising trade of LNG, has driven Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG) to further enhance the efficiency of its business process system used in commercial operations.
SLNG has been a customer of Tieto since 2012, subscribing to the Transport and Revenue modules of Energy Components (EC) to manage the hydrocarbon accounting for the entire LNG import value chain. EC takes care of business processes regarding the planning, unloading, inventory control, re-gasification, gas sales and gas delivery etc. Besides using Tieto as the vendor, SLNG is also interested in the support services Tieto can offer for this business-critical system.

Meticulously designing a service delivery roadmap for SLNG, Tieto started the journey by upgrading the EC version 10 to version 11. This was followed by implementing necessary enhancements to support the extended third-party access for the Singapore LNG market.
Tieto’s 24/7 Service Desk will provide a consolidated support for all EC related incidents and take ownership of all tickets from submission to resolution, making users’ daily lives easier. The 24/7 support team will be available day and night to pick up issues first-hand. Also, synergies effects are expected regarding the total cost of ownership.
Tieto will support SLNG from its centers of expertise in Europe and Asia. “The support is important for SLNG as it enables us to fulfill our obligations to our customers”, as mentioned by Chong Nai Min, Director Information Technology of SLNG.
“We are proud to support SLNG’s vision to be a world-class LNG terminal operator enabling the growth of the energy market and LNG hub in Singapore. Tieto’s product, Energy Components (EC), is the industry standard for many of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, with over 40% of all LNG globally handled via EC. This agreement will highlight our commitment to SLNG, and our strength and focus on delivering of support services for our customers,” says Kaare Lunde, Vice President Oil & Gas in Tieto.
Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) was incorporated in June 2009 to build, own and operate Singapore’s very first open-access, multi-user LNG Terminal. This is a key infrastructure that supports Singapore’s energy diversification strategy and future economic development in the energy sector. The Terminal’s primary mandate is to provide Throughput Services for the domestic market, but beyond this, SLNG also offers ancillary services such as Vessel Cool-down, Storage & Reload, and LNG Truck Loading services. SLNG will continuously explore new LNG business opportunities as it pursues its vision to be a world-class LNG terminal operator enabling the growth of the energy market and LNG hub in Singapore.
