We introduced 6,000 sensors into our new head office in Keilalahti, Finland. The result? An improved employee experience, with optimised office space usage and minimised environmental impact.
At our Keilalahti office, sensor technology combined with Industrial Internet solutions and data-driven analytics are making it possible to collect, combine and analyse data from thousands of installed sensors. These provide access to simple and understandable information that can be used in making sustainable decisions.
'The Intelligent Building opens completely new opportunities to run the office premises efficiently. We will be able to optimise office usage and even temporarily close office space that is unused, as one example,' explained Tomas Elken, CPO and Head of Facilities at Tieto. 'This way we can optimise energy consumption as well as office cleaning and maintenance, while at the same time minimising environmental impact.'
Switching to green buildings and reducing energy consumption are an integral part of our global facility strategy. The Keilalahti office is equipped with LED lamps and occupancy sensors, and runs on renewable energy from certified wind power. The building's cooling system is run using seawater. Meanwhile, automation connected to a remote Energy Wise controlling system makes it possible to systematically review heating, ventilation and air-conditioning conditions and settings. For employees and visitors, the environmental features are mainly visible through the certified recycled office furniture. In addition, the indoor carpet is made of material supporting the highest indoor air-quality standards.
