Managing sustainability - an integrated approach

Sustainability as a responsibility and an opportunity. Our integrated sustainable solutions help our customers transform their business and create real economical, societal and environmental value.

Our stakeholders increasingly demand we embed sustainability throughout the whole organisation - both up and down stream. Governance, compliance, processes and tools as well as structure are all important elements in integrating sustainability into our daily operations.

Our Sustainability Steering Group sets our sustainability agenda and advises the leadership team and board of directors. Different functions and units of the company make up the steering group, ensuring the voices of internal and external stakeholders are taken into account. A sustainability team, led by Ida Bohman Steenberg, supports our efforts on a daily basis with each sustainability theme handled by an appointed member of staff.

Sustainability long-term plan

We are convinced that our long-term success is dependent on our active role in sustainable development. This requires a business model that takes into account social and environmental aspects covering business operations, partners, suppliers as well as services and solutions. Therefore, sustainability is integrated into our daily business operations and made part of our value chain.

Our sustainability long-term plan (for 2017-2020) is based on our materiality analysis which was conducted in 2016 with the input from our stakeholders. The plan is grounded in our business, confirmed with our stakeholders and aligned with international frameworks and guidelines for sustainable business such as the United Nations Global Compact, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our plan compromises nine sustainability areas, focusing on three objectives; minimising environmental impact, being and ethical forerunner and creating value for our stakeholders. More information about the sustainability approach and our long term-plan can be found in our annual report

Policies and rules

We support the leading global sustainability principles and comply with the requirements of several inter-governmental organisations and industry standards. These initiatives guide us in our daily work:

  • We are a signatory of the UN Global Compact principles for environmental care, human rights, worker's rights and anti-corruption since 2010.
  • We comply with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
  • We are a Gold Community Member of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Every year, we publish an externally assured sustainability report based on GRI’s framework for sustainability reporting.

To implement our approach to sustainability in business operations and across our supply chain, we have several rules and policies.
