Tieto promotes adoption of ISO 20022 e-invoice standard

ISO 20022 is an international organisation that promotes standardisation in the financial industry. It includes members from banks, companies producing electronic services, and other businesses. Standardisation is a significant facilitator of e-services adoption.

Standardisation creates base for developing e-services

Tieto considers it important to apply and support the use of standards. Among other benefits, standards reduce overlapping work of senders and receivers of e-invoices. Standards agreed upon together form a solid foundation for developing new, global services.

Through our co-operation with Trade Services Standards Evaluation Group, we can influence the contents of international standards, taking into consideration national level needs and practices. We can quickly offer our customers new services based on international standards, thus facilitating our customers’ electronic connections with their business partners.

Tapani Turunen leads Trade Services SEG

Tieto’s Tapani Turunen acts as convenor of the ISO 20022 Trade Services SEG. He will hold this position until 2012. Tieto’s Markus Hautala is also a member of the organisation. Both men work in the Value Networks Unit, which specialises in business integration and digitalisation.

“Members are typically appointed by national bodies responsible for standardisation. My own appointment, for instance, is based on a mandate given by the Finnish Standards Association SFS and proposed by the Federation of Finnish Financial Services,” says Turunen. “As convenor it is my job to make sure that the group works effectively and to a high quality.”
