Tieto's Corporate Responsibility Report 2011 has been published

Tieto's third Corporate Responsibility (CR) report based on Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) framework has been published. This year, the report qualifies for an A+ application level. The report presents the main objectives and achievements related to corporate responsibility and management approach to issues that are considered to be most material to Tieto's stakeholders. Among the main achievements in 2011 are the reduction of CO2 equivalent emissions from Tieto's own operations (-13%) compared to the previous year, but also the increased number of sustainable IT services, which reduced customers' CO2 equivalent emissions by 168 481 tonnes (162 705).  

"We strongly believe in information technologies as a driver for sustainable development, and are happy to see the impact of our IT services on our customer's sustainability performance," says Carl-Harald Andersson, Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Responsibility in Tieto.

Other highlights in the report are the external recognitions given to Tieto in regards to the company's activities to prevent climate change, coming from Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) among others. Tieto is the only company in the Nordics to be included in the Carbon Performance Leadership Index, and also got very high scores (96 points) in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDP Nordic 260 Report 2011).

Apart from the environmental achievements the CR report 2011 also describes Tieto's sustainability work in the economic and social areas, such as the increased level of activities in the supply chain, the company's internal quality work and social engagement.

Tieto's Corporate Responsibility Report 2011 is assured in accordance with the AA1000 Assurance Standard (2008) by an external auditor to level A+. It is also the annual Communication on Progress in accordance with UN Global Compact (GC) requirements, qualifying for the GC Advanced level.The full report is available at www.tieto.com/about-us/corporate-responsibility/reporting.
