Healthcare services are coping with huge challenges. The system suffers from an obvious lack of financial resources and is strikingly understaffed. There is growing need to increase productivity and efficiency, improve patient care and safety and decrease costs in healthcare.

Aging population and the ability of medical sciences to treat diseases will boost the expansion of services. At the same time the expectations by citizens to have higher standards for services creates new requirements how they want to be treated and how they get access to services.

ICT is one of the key enablers to improve care processes and clinical care, but also to smooth workflows and satisfy customers’ information needs.
