TietoEnator will deliver a new forest resource data system to Forestry Development Centre Tapio and 13 regional forestry centres in Finland. The system supports the main functions of forestry centres, collection and maintenance of forest resource data. The delivery also includes a centralized extension of the database and integration interfaces to other systems.

 

The purpose of the forestry centres is to collect new forest stand data from 1,5 million hectares annually. Forest professionals and forest owners will be served better with effective data collection and more accurate information. Forest resource data is available through digital services.

 

TietoEnator has full responsibility for the delivery of the project. The new system will be implemented at the end of 2009. TietoEnator's strong experience in implementing large geographical information solutions and wide know-how about the wood-processing value chain will be utilized in this project. ESRI's geographical information technology and development tools will be used as system's spatial data platform.
