Zine seeks and finds opportunities

Project Manager
“When I was still studying I heard a lot of stories about Tieto, and how great a company it is to work for. I started as trainee in a J2EE project in 2008. Since then my work has always been related to back-end solutions.
I appreciate the most the possibility to learn and grow in my daily work. As I said I joined Tieto as a trainee, and now I am a Project Manager. The personal development is possible due to a diversity of assignments I get to do in different projects.
I expect to develop my skills and personal growth further. I learn everyday something new, and I see the impact of it in the customer surface and in my colleagues´ reactions. I genuinely feel that every day is filled with opportunities in the company, and we shall appreciate and take advantage of it.”
Tuomo does work he believes in
Tuomo Koskenvaara
MSc (Tech)
Director, Service Desk and close support services
“In my work, it is important that my team and I are able to help others to do their work well. My goal is to help others develop their own skills to an extent that I would no longer be needed. I continuously think about my own role and its purpose in terms of Tieto and customers’ service production chains. Forming an overall picture helps me understand the things I can have an impact on at any given moment and what I should really focus on.
I want to do work I believe in. I want to improve myself and keep my life in balance. I believe that I have the possibility to achieve these things with Tieto. I hope that I will have challenging and suitably varying duties also in the future.
I started my career at the beginning of the 1990s at Dativo, where I worked in computing-related tasks. After that I worked for a short while at Statistics Finland, Comptel and finally at Sonera in various expert duties.
In 2001, I was looking for a company where I could do my Master's dissertation and also stay after graduating, and at that stage ended up in Tieto. In the end, I did my dissertation in CERN after which I returned to Tieto as a project manager.
So far, one of my best achievements with Tieto has been the launch of the career coaching programme called Be Captain of Your Career. It has helped many of our employees clarify their goals and create a clearer image for themselves of how they could achieve these goals.”
Katja-Mari wanted challenges and got them
Katja-Mari Karhu
MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management
SAP project manager, enterprise solutions
“It is important to me to work continuously on new challenges and really feel that I am improving at what I am doing. In six years, I have progressed from application consultant to project manager. The key skills in my current job are those of project management, whereas before I focused on acting as a consultant in system features and on business processes. My previous duties provide a good basis for succeeding in my current role.
I moved to Tieto from a customer where I had worked on an enterprise resource planning project. I had noticed the good atmosphere on the supplier’s side and the professional people it employed. I also thought that Tieto was a large enough company to provide self-improvement opportunities and that there I could look for new challenges within the company.
At the moment, I am responsible for SAP system projects and I also have responsibility for planning and monitoring the projects. I have learned a lot. I think it is great that everyone in Tieto has the chance to improve themselves, but being proactive in starting the change is essential. I wanted to change my job description in order to gain experience in different tasks.
In the future, I want to become an even better expert in what I do now. It is also important to be satisfied with one’s job and work environment. Additionally, I hope to gain more experience in working on multicultural projects.”
