Our recruitment process

When applying for jobs at Tieto, our potential employees often have many
questions regarding the recruitment process. Here are the most frequently asked questions:

How long will it take before I am called for an interview?
“When the job application period has ended, our goal is to select candidates for the first round of interviews within the first week. We try to schedule interviews as soon as possible during the following days.”

Who will I meet in the interview?
“In the first interview, you will meet one of our recruitment consultants and/or the recruiting manager, depending on the position you have applied for. For the second interview, the manager of the unit concerned will be present, in some cases accompanied by the industry expertise-area manager or a representative from the Human Resources department.”

Will I get an answer following my application, even if it does not proceed to the recruitment process?
“Yes, of course, we send out e-mails to let all applicants know their status when the first selection process is done. This is one of the core steps in our recruitment process.”

Is an assessment test part of the hiring process?
“Yes, it often is. But it is also very much related to the position in question. Assessments normally take place after the first round of interviews for the candidates that are deemed most promising for the position. The tests we use include personality assessments and different ability tests. For some positions, we also use strictly technical tests, where applicants can demonstrate their technical expertise.”

Does Tieto have a common global recruitment process?
“Yes. There are some minor variations in the division of the responsibilities in different countries, but the steps in the process are basically the same everywhere. Our whole business is based on high-quality professionals working on assignments that match their competences and personal interests. Acquiring the right skills and talents is therefore a crucial process in our organization.”

How many candidates will be interviewed for each position on average?
“This very much depends on the position and the amount of good candidates available. We usually select five to seven candidates for the first round of interviews.”

What are the following steps in the process?
“After the first round of interviews we select the most suitable candidates for the second phase, which could include a set of assessment tests, reference checks and, as a final step, the second interview. Our goal is to have a thorough but efficient process with a high-quality result.”

What happens during my first weeks and months at Tieto?
"You will get to know your colleagues and go through a basic induction programme. This aims not only to welcome you as a new employee and guide you in to your role, but also to give you a bigger picture of corporate strategy, goals and values and in this way build your understanding of Tieto as an employer."
