Helping APA enhance customer satisfaction and service

APA, Australia’s largest natural gas infrastructure business, will implement EC’s gas pipeline solution to standardise operations on its 12,000 kilometre transport network, enhancing customer satisfaction and service.

Copyright APA GroupAPA’s search for a new IT solution provider was initiated based on several requirements. The gas pipeline solution they sought should help the company enhance customer satisfaction and service as well as standardise how APA performs business functions around the country.

This project is considered an important strategic project for APA. In terms of IT and change projects it is one of the largest APA has done, and intends to do,” said Chris Henwood, Program manager at APA. He emphasised that the project enjoys personal sponsorship from top management at APA.

Track record from global installations important selection criteria

Tieto was selected after a comprehensive process of information gathering, company presentations and discussions with a short-list of companies. “The key reason for selecting Tieto and Energy Components was the track record from global installations, demonstrating both a strong solution and a strong implementation team,” Chris Henwood commented.

Enhances customer satisfaction and customer service

Tieto has since early August had a team of five EC experts in Sydney, working closely with APA to implement the EC gas pipeline solution. The project is scheduled to take close to two years. “The EC software suite will help us on our journey to enhance customer satisfaction and services. In practice it will help us deal with business processes including the handling of commercial agreements, early phases of contract negotiations, as well as nomination and billing capabilities in one single database. All elements of great importance to us,” said Chris Henwood.
