Tieto selected as contracted supplier of expert IT services for municipalities in Finland

Tieto has been selected as one of the framework agreement suppliers of IT expert services for KL-Kultahankinnat Oy in Finland. The criteria for the selection were skilled workforce, operating model that meets all customer requirements, and competitive price.

"The municipal sector is at a turning point. We are very pleased to be involved in building new, efficient information systems and utilisation methods for the Finnish public sector administration. In the framework agreement tendering process, run for the first time, suppliers were selected for four service sectors: overall deliveries, the development of information management and operational processes, planning and definition services, as well as programming, integration, and testing services. Tieto was selected as the contracted supplier for all service sectors. The contract term is two years, with an option to renew the contract for a further two years.

"I believe that one of the reasons we were chosen is our over 40 year-long experience in producing public sector administration services. We have over 6 000 IT experts across 19 localities, of whom about 1 500 are specialised in producing information technology services for public sector administration," states Hyyryläinen.

"This framework agreement will help us to ensure sufficient competition and maximum value for money, whilst maintaining a variety of suppliers for the development of information technology services for municipalities," says Tapio Koivisto, Director of procurement for Kuntahankinnat.

KL-Kuntahankinnat works as a shared procurement unit for public purchases and is responsible for ensuring the tendering of purchases covering the entire municipal sector. Customers can acquire products and services tendered by Kuntahankinnat based on contracts made by the company and within the limits of the framework agreement.
