More effective operations for Ovako Bar with Tieto's solutions

Tieto is renewing key ERP systems at Ovako Bar Oy Ab's Imatra and Turenki sites. The project will be finished by 2013. With this renewal, Ovako Bar is focusing on key strategic targets: enhancement of profitability and growth.
The new systems will contribute to ensuring the competitiveness and cost efficiency of the Imatra steel works into the future. Developing ERP and production planning will ensure the improvement of delivery reliability, shorten production lead-times, reduce raw material and product inventories, and increase the productivity of work and materials.

At the core of the solution implemented by Tieto is Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system, which will be integrated into the applications used by Ovako Bar.  

The ERP system comprises sales, delivery, invoicing, quality control and laboratory functions, inventory management, procurement, financial management, reporting and HR management. The role-based user interfaces, automated work routes, real-time status updates and automated alarm functions improve the quality of operations and efficiency at all levels of the company.

Ovako Bar Oy Ab's Imatra steel works have been operating since 1937. The factory manufactures low alloy steel in the form of bars and tubes for the demanding automotive and engineering industries. The most important raw material is scrap metal, which is a totally recyclable material. The annual capacity of the plant is about 300,000 tonnes and it employs 600 people.
