The Android™ Builders Summit is a technical summit for OEMs, their device manufacturers, integrators, custom builders, and the growing Android and Linux Kernel developer communities. Android is expanding to an increasing number of industry segments in addition to smart phones and tablets.

The Android Builders Summit provides an intimate forum for collaboration at the systems level and discussion of core issues and opportunities when designing Android devices. The summit addresses topics ranging from custom builds, alternative middleware, network functionality extensions, Peer to Peer frameworks, USB device support, security, unification of power management, tools and hybrid Android devices among many other topics.

This is an excellent opportunity for companies participating in Android-based product development to interact and exchange ideas with their industry colleagues and other participants from the Android community.

The Embedded Linux Conference (ELC) is the premier vendor-neutral technical conference for companies and developers using Linux in embedded products. This conference, now in its 8th year, has the largest collection of sessions dedicated exclusively to embedded Linux and embedded Linux developers. ELC is embedded Linux experts talking about solutions to your embedded Linux problems.

Tieto, one of the sponsors of Android Builder's Summit, will be demonstrating its versatile expertise in Linux and open source by presenting two intriguing leading-edge open source topics.

On Tuesday, Feb 14th, Tieto will envision the future of Android IVI solutions with the presentation "Novell Approach to In-Vehicle Infotainment based on Android". The presentation will highlight challenges and opportunities by bringing Android to the IVI environment and introduce the audience to security requirements so far not addressed by smart-phones or tablets.

On Friday, Feb 17th, Tieto is opening up one of the best kept secrets in mobile industry - modem implementation, and the roadmap towards the first real open source phone. The presentation will describe porting of Linux to one of the cell phones based on Mediatek platform (MT6235). It also describes the way how we could get the first fully Open Source mobile phone including implementation of L1/L2/L3 of GSM stack in Linux (baseband part).
