NEW FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS CONTROL SYSTEMS INTRODUCED IN THE SOUTHERN OSTROBOTHNIA HOSPITAL DISTRICT

The Southern Ostrobothnia hospital district is gradually changing over to new financial and materials control systems. The systems will be taken into use at the beginning of 1998. The MerittEco+ and Target financial management systems will be provided by the Tieto Group unit, Unic Oy. Delectia Oy will supply the hospitals with a customized Keybox materials control system.

According to Director Jaakko Pihlajamäki, the hospital district management processes are being developed intensely. This requires modern comprehensive solutions. "On the other hand, the business bookkeeping reform by itself forces us to upgrade the systems. Further, the Southern Ostrobothnia hospital district wants to prepare for the year 2000 well in advance. The chosen financial and materials control system is a complete solution which has been tested in a hospital environment", Pihlajamäki says.

According to IT manager Jaakko Rajala, the decision was based especially on the vendors' strong resources and expertise in financial management and materials control. The hospital district valued also the fact that the support services and further development connected with the applications are based in Finland.
