At Lindesberg General Hospital the surgery clinic is testing modern portable technology in close cooperation with TietoEnator.
“We want to see if this is an economical alternative to equipping all patient wards and all consulting rooms with fixed clients. A tablet pc is a little more expensive, but you can take the portable equipment with you and use it in work with patients,” says Ulrika Landström, group manager for system administration at ADB & Tele within Örebro county council.
For a number of years, Örebro county council has used TietoEnator’s Infomedix administrative IT support to manage electronic data in the care process. The use of a tablet pc is a further development to increase usability, mainly for people working in care departments. It is already possible to run Infomedix on tablet pcs without needing to re-write the code or design a new user interface. The transfer takes place via wireless radio LAN.
The tablet PC can be utilized e.g. when doctors make their rounds or in connection with the distribution of medication. I.e. that X-rays or all the directions of the care can easily be shown to patients via the tablet PC.
Both doctors and secretaries have been very positive about the new technology, according to a survey of personnel at Lindesberg.
