Enterprise Application Architecture

Enterprise Application Architecture

The Enterprise Application Architecture defines the corporate application environment. Enterprise Application Architecture and Enterprise Network Architecture are two, but by no means the only, perspectives on the enterprise architecture model. Making a real commitment to the architecture-first principle requires development of several other perspectives, such as the business and information perspectives.

The existing application environment and the desired future environment combine to form the Enterprise Application Architecture. This approach ensures that the abilities, as well disabilities, of existing platforms and products are properly taken into consideration when deciding on preferred functionality.
The goals of the Enterprise Application Architecture are:

  • To provide guidance and recommendations, without excluding different approaches.
  • To clearly prioritize requirements, while not dictating the use of certain technologies or products.
  • To be iterative in order to accurately reflect business needs, but to be able to provide guidance for development and planning at all times.
